Tonight on the Write Stuff –The Gevaudan Project with A. K. Preston

the-gevaudan-project.jpgSomething has been unleashed…

A team of naturalists find themselves facing a nightmare beyond anything they have ever known – and the product of unspeakable evil.

Philip Caster, a former Green Beret now working as a zoologist, leads an international team in Indonesia whose revolutionary new program may spell salvation for the endangered Sumatran tiger. They will release six artificially-conceived tiger cubs into the wild, accompanied by their surrogate mothers. The effort will prove the feasibility of in vitro breeding as a new tool against extinction. But its success is overshadowed by the sudden emergence of a horror beyond reckoning. Something has been unleashed in the forests of Sumatra. A life-form never meant to walk the earth. One that seeks humanity as its only prey.

As death unfolds around them, Caster and his circle of friends must uncover the truth behind an abomination: the instrument of dark and all-too-human forces pursuing a twisted ideological vision. Their creation has killed already – and their plans will consume millions more.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — Apocalypse TV with Thomas Allbaugh

Thomas AlbaughQUESTION REALITY

When a reality TV scout “discovers” Walter in a diner near the hospice where his father has been placed, his life has reached a low point. His father is dying, his college teaching career is under threat, and his life is adrift. The scout wants him for a reality show about religion. In a more self-assured period of his life, Walter would have rejected her questionable offer outright, but now he wavers and allows himself to be drawn in. Maybe this is the jolt of energy his life needs. Maybe, if the show succeeds, his university will be so impressed that they’ll finally treat him with respect. Maybe the show will even be what the producers promise it will be, a serious inquiry into faith. Maybe he’ll become famous.

The show brings Walter attention, but for all the wrong reasons. He is misquoted, misinterpreted, misunderstood, and then shot after he has been dragged across the country in an increasingly frustrating and absurd series of challenges. Will his career and reputation survive the public protests? Will his marriage survive the hints of affairs on the road? Will any kind of “reality” emerge to restore his self-respect?

Author picThomas Allbaugh is an associate professor of English at Azusa Pacific University. He has been writing since the fourth grade, when his teacher allowed satire in their “What I Want for Christmas” stories. Later, after winning a short story contest in the eighth grade, and being accused of plagiarism in the ninth grade, because, his teacher said, “You can’t write that well,” he began to read seriously every afternoon in the library during study hall and found he enjoyed everything from science fiction to realistic fiction. Convinced now that writing is not just creating products, but more importantly an active way to reflect, discover new ideas, and process the world, he has managed to publish short fiction, essays, and poetry in a number of small journals. APOCALYPSE TV is his first novel, though he has also published a textbook for first-year writing, called PRETEXTS FOR WRITING.

51Otfl5RZCL._UX250_Originally from the Ukraine, Iryna K Combs is still considered as a new face to America. Speaking three languages including English, that became just as natural as her native Russian. She grew up in a town on the south of Ukraine doing the same things other kids her age did. Dreaming, hoping and wishing. Growing up, she spoke absolutely no English and never even saw herself somewhere abroad. Nevertheless, writing a novel in another language! She was simply never interested in literature and was not an avid reader.
Iryna went to the local school that brought mostly negative experience in her life. But it shaped her throughout the years. Her college life was much better. She is a holder of bachelor degree in finances. Iryna also studied some psychology and self-studied body language.
In her first year of college she met her future husband online. When she finally got her fiancée visa, they both moved to the states, where soon after, got married. Iryna traveled to most of the Europe, Egypt, and Bahamas and still wishes to see more countries.
Iryna is an ex-model. In the first few years living in the states she did some modeling and acting. Photo-shoots, run-way and photo in the magazine fulfilled her childhood’s dream. A few years later she became a mother of a wonderful and most handsome little boy. Along with learning and experiencing motherhood, Iryna began to make hand-made jewelry and organic soaps. This hobby turned into her small business and became bigger than she thought it would.
In the last year Mrs. Combs discovered: “an author lives inside me”. Never did she think that she would write an English book and that she would love doing it. But she did! And yes, she loved it!
Amazon bestseller in all of its categories “Black Wings” was written by her dream that she saw many months before she actually began writing. The novel was accepted by a romance publisher only two months after she was done writing. Once her book was published, the publisher closed down and Iryna quickly found a new home for her debut. Being released on October 23rd, 2015 her novel rapidly gathered many editorial, professional and customer reviews. Only five months after release “Black Wings” became an amazon bestseller in all of its categories and stayed a bestseller for a week.
Iryna is planning on sequel as she says: “I have so many people asking for sequel that it practically inspired me to write one.” While she is leaving sequel for the end of the year of 2016, she is currently working on her next creation, realistic Biblical fiction.
Combs loves nature, going out with her family, gardening and cooking. She also plans to write her own cook book in the near future. Iryna is working on becoming a certified interpreter in English-Russian. She loves meeting new people and gets shy when given compliments. Combs loves to learn new things and thinks it is good to know everything since we never know what we might have to be doing. Iryna, age 28, is a proud Christian and loves learning more about her religion.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — Medieval Mars with Travis Perry — *REBROADCAST*

marsA future terraformed Mars, where civilization crashed back into a Medieval Era. Christian Knights called “riders” patrol the Pilgrim Road from Olympus to New San Diego, on the Chryse Sea. The technological past is known as the “Age of Magic” and only a handful of people understand how the remaining ancient devices really work. Lighter gravity in dense air makes flying dragons and bird riders a reality; alloys of the past make “magic” swords; and masters of ancient knowledge wield wizard-like power.

Nine authors spin tales in this unique story world, one which combines elements of science fiction and high fantasy.
