Tonight on the Write Stuff — Medieval Mars with Travis Perry — *REBROADCAST*

marsA future terraformed Mars, where civilization crashed back into a Medieval Era. Christian Knights called “riders” patrol the Pilgrim Road from Olympus to New San Diego, on the Chryse Sea. The technological past is known as the “Age of Magic” and only a handful of people understand how the remaining ancient devices really work. Lighter gravity in dense air makes flying dragons and bird riders a reality; alloys of the past make “magic” swords; and masters of ancient knowledge wield wizard-like power.

Nine authors spin tales in this unique story world, one which combines elements of science fiction and high fantasy.

jimsThe last three years have not been drama-free for Anaya Patterson, despite the fact that she moved back in with her father after dropping out of college. Now in a relationship with a married man nearly twice her age, Anaya finds herself the talk of her small hometown as she relishes in the expensive gifts her boyfriend provides, including a luxury condo, expensive clothes, exotic vacations, and a customized Ford Mustang.

Anaya’s confidence and sense of security are overtaken by fear when her father passes away suddenly and her boyfriend dumps her once she decides not to abort their child. Now completely alone, pregnant, and broke, Anaya is forced to lean on the people she has resented the most her entire life, the members of First Bethany Christian Church.

To Anaya’s surprise, she is embraced with loving arms by her childhood church family, who is more than happy to help her in any way they can, including the pastor’s youngest son, Julian, whom Anaya hasn’t seen in over ten years. The two quickly find a connection, but their future happiness is threatened once secrets about Anaya’s past are exposed. Will new love prove strong enough to withstand the tribulation of scandal, or will backlash from those who don’t approve keep them apart?

The Good Atheist — Tonight on the Write Stuff

goodatheistJack Callaghan is a good atheist. He doesn’t believe in religious ‘fairy tales’ and won’t accept anything without evidence. Which is just as well, since faith of any kind is a cerebral crime in 2058.

His wife Selene used to be a super model. Once beautiful and confident, she became a recluse after a car accident left her horribly disfigured. Since then she hasn’t left the house, shunning friends and family and everyone who loves her. And she has no plans to ever step outside the front door again.

Both their lives are about to change forever when Jack inherits a secluded cabin in the woods. For within the cabin he finds evidence that his father, a famous scientist long believed dead, is alive and in hiding from the Tolerance Bureau. Jack sets out to find him, but his journey to find his father soon turns into a race for his life when he uncovers the explosive truth behind his father’s disappearance – a truth the Tolerance Bureau is desperate to conceal and will do anything to keep hidden.

Because behind his disappearance are the reasons his scientist father became a believer.

Mike-with-book-1Mike was born in Toronto and grew up in south-western Ontario. When he was 15 he hitchhiked across Canada and got a job in Vancouver, selling drawings to earn meal money along the way. He spent the next few years travelling extensively around the US and Canada, working at odd jobs. He was a garbage man in Iowa, cleaned cafeterias in Newport Beach California, flipped burgers in Vancouver B.C., drove a truck in Alberta, and buffed floors in London Ontario.

After a few years of this, as much fun as it was, he realized it was time to go to college and get a real job. He graduated from college and worked as a computer programmer for 18 years before going into project management. His first book, a non-fiction computer guide was published in 1997. In 2004 he went into seminary and graduated with a Masters in Theological Studies. He started writing speculative fiction in 2007, and completed several novels before publishing The Good Atheist in July 2014. When the Watcher Shakes — Tonight on the Write Stuff

shakersThe walls were meant to keep evil out-but they only hid the evil within.

John has given up his ordinary life to find wisdom traveling the country and enjoy the freedom of living as a nomad. But when he stumbles across a mysterious town tucked away in the Appalachian Mountains, walled off from modern society, he discovers a group of people who could use some freedom of their own. Are they a harmless religious sect, or is there something less benign underneath the surface?

The townspeople are initially wary of their new visitor, but as John questions their way of life, some of them begin to have questions of their own. As the leadership’s tight control unravels, men and women break free from the chains of legalism-some literally, and some at the cost of their own lives.
