Marriage Booboos — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole BannerSome time ago, my sister came over to visit. We sat for a while talking about any and everything like sisters do. The subject eventually turned to our appearance. My twin said, “I’m fatter than you.” To which I said, “No, I’m fatter than you.” Delightfully arguing about why each of us was the bigger twin, suddenly my husband got up and walked by us on his way to either do something manly like playing video games or to escape. I’ll never be sure. “Baby,” I called out to him, “be honest: which one of us is fatter? Me or her?”

I’ve never seen a man look more like a deer caught in headlights while trying to avoid the aim of a hunter’s gun. “Like he’s gonna pick either one of us as the fattest!” My twin roared with laughter as hubby rushed down the hall and away from us. “No matter which way he answered that, it was gonna be wrong.”

Oops! I made a marriage booboo.

Sometimes they’re small little faux pas like the one I mentioned above. Other times they’re bigger and more serious, like hurtful words and actions. Perhaps they’re precipitated by internal things like insecurity, jealousy, or unforgiveness. Perhaps it’s a secret we haven’t shared. Whatever it is, marriage booboos happen. Can we survive them?

Pamela Poole is an artist and author currently living in Raleigh, NC with her husband Mark. Her novels in the Painter Place Saga take place on a fictional island along the coastline of South Carolina, between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Her short stories “King’s Ransom” and “Windsong of the Marsh” are two of the popular legends surrounding Painter Place and are included in the story series.

As an artist, Pamela creates the paintings for her book cover designs. She was inspired to write Painter Place when her son encouraged her to write the kind of book she wanted to read but couldn’t find. Book 2 in the saga, Hugo, follows the characters at Painter Place almost five years later as they endure the historic monster hurricane of that name in 1989. Jaguar, Book 3, will be released in early March 2017 with Southern Sky Publishing. She is currently writing Landmark, Book 4.

Her love of living in the South is lavished into her subject matter, inspiring her to categorize her work as “Southern Ambiance.” She’s a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and ACFW-NC. The Biblical Justification for Slavery — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole BannerI find myself in a unique position for this episode of the Parker J Cole show — I don’t have a clue what the co-host is going to say. She’s been on the show a few times. Always a wonderful co-host but this time, she’s got me stumped!

So I speculate: could it be that all those people who say the Bible approves of slavery — even encourages it — are right? Should slavery become a legitimate form of life and not looked down on so harshly? Should the President read a formal apology to all those plantation owners and their descendants about being so critical of the institution? Should old and modern abolitionists bow their heads in shame for decrying that slavery is wrong? What will our guest talk about on this episode?

Lisa Guinther is an artist, published illustrator, poet, photographer, preacher, feminist, bible teacher, and philosopher. What is she going to say about the biblical justification for slavery? After all, she graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder magna cum laude — let’s face it: she would know!

Should You Only Read the King James Bible? — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole Banner

There are a lot of different Bible translations out there but one has to admit the lyrical prose of the King James Bible remains supreme for many different reasons. Part of it is that it is one of the first to be translated in English. Perhaps another is the fact it’s been in our Western culture for so long.

Yet, there are those who proclaim you should only read the King James Bible. Why is that? In the light of the many translations out there, what holds the King James Bible in such high esteem?

Join me for this discussion as I chat with pastor George McVey as we discuss the KJV only theory and more. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or click on the link here: http://tobtr.com/s/9541617

The Good Atheist — Tonight on the Write Stuff

goodatheistJack Callaghan is a good atheist. He doesn’t believe in religious ‘fairy tales’ and won’t accept anything without evidence. Which is just as well, since faith of any kind is a cerebral crime in 2058.

His wife Selene used to be a super model. Once beautiful and confident, she became a recluse after a car accident left her horribly disfigured. Since then she hasn’t left the house, shunning friends and family and everyone who loves her. And she has no plans to ever step outside the front door again.

Both their lives are about to change forever when Jack inherits a secluded cabin in the woods. For within the cabin he finds evidence that his father, a famous scientist long believed dead, is alive and in hiding from the Tolerance Bureau. Jack sets out to find him, but his journey to find his father soon turns into a race for his life when he uncovers the explosive truth behind his father’s disappearance – a truth the Tolerance Bureau is desperate to conceal and will do anything to keep hidden.

Because behind his disappearance are the reasons his scientist father became a believer.
