Should You Only Read the King James Bible? — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole Banner

There are a lot of different Bible translations out there but one has to admit the lyrical prose of the King James Bible remains supreme for many different reasons. Part of it is that it is one of the first to be translated in English. Perhaps another is the fact it’s been in our Western culture for so long.

Yet, there are those who proclaim you should only read the King James Bible. Why is that? In the light of the many translations out there, what holds the King James Bible in such high esteem?

About The Book

onesundayatatimefront

What does crazy look like? Let Deborah tell it, it’s the reflection that looks back at her in the mirror. She has a career she loves, two beautiful children and a handsome and successful husband. Her life seems to be the blueprint almost every woman she knows would kill to live. But working full-time, being a full-time mother, full-time wife and a full-time Sunday only Christian seems to be taking its toll on her. With all the scheming and shenanigans Deborah orchestrated to get this lifestyle, she might have to come up with a whole set of new ones to maintain it.

Lynox is Deborah’s husband who she thanks God for putting back into her life after a game of cat and mouse that defies the laws of romance. He feels that all Deborah needs is to let her hair down, maybe make some new friends and live a little. When Deborah agrees and then suspects Lynox of having an affair with the woman that he suggested she form a friendship with, will he live to regret his own advice?

Fire Breathing Christian — The BEST of the Parker J Cole Show **REBROADCAST**

Parker J Cole Banner
When I came across Fire Breathing Christian, it was through a friend who popped a cool article about the early Christian signs found in the game of the Legend of Zelda. As I read through this highly interesting blog, I found myself clicking on more thought provoking, convicting articles about putting the Lord first in EVERY aspect of our lives. Then I saw the title of the blog, Fire Breathing Christian, and the image that came to mind just had me bouncing in my chair saying, “I’ve got to have this blogger on my show!”

After all, Christians, not erroneously but perhaps misguided, tend to think meekness, and humility are the only sides of Christ. Perhaps we need to be reminded that Christ is not just the Lamb but the Lion. Perhaps we need to be remember to be wise as serpents, and not just harmless as doves.

Fire Breathing Christian hopes to equip and encourage Christians to better understand, proclaim, and apply the lordship of Christ in every realm of His creation. 20160429_110247

It’s really a shock to me that I would write Christian fiction. Really it is.  I didn’t know Christian fiction existed until about 2000 or so when I happened across a store called Family Christian Stores. I went in there and saw all of these lovely books and was hooked.

My earliest memories are of books and writing. I always knew this is what I would do. I just never thought I’d be a Christian writer or a writer who is Christian.  I grew up reading Stephen King and then when I was fourteen, I discovered my first Harlequin book under my cousin’s bed that summer and got hooked onto romance. So my first loves are horror and romance. Go figure.

When I began to take my writing seriously, I had been let go at my job back in 2010.  Now I had time on my hands. I saw the computer with my manuscript I’d let linger for ten years from the time I was 18 years old and I decided to get in published no matter what. My first book, Dark Cherub, can be classified as Christian horror. (Thanks Stevie!)  It changed everything for me. I mean, everything. I worked on my first romance series, called Sins of the Flesh and that also changed things for me. I started to do podcasting, and now I am the owner of the new PJC Media, an online broadcasting company.  Yet the love of the written word is still in my veins.

I host Christian authors worldwide on my shows.  Been doing it for three years. Over the years, I’ve become something of  diplomat. The body of Christ is already so divided by denominations and the like. I don’t want to add to that unnecessarily. I don’t mind standing up for core biblical truths but when it comes to secondary, non-essentials, I don’t get too worked up over it.

I love helping Christian authors get the word out about their works. If you want to be showcased on my show, simply email me at writestuffradio at gmail dot com. I’d be glad to have you.

Write Stuff Author Spotlight — Go Make Disciples by Brad Francis

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Jesus (Matt. 28:19-20 ESV)

The Great Commission is one of the most familiar passages in the Bible. Churches put it up in sanctuaries and kids memorize it in children’s programs. We’re all reminded on a regular basis that it’s our job to go and make disciples of all nations.

Wait. Hold on. We’re supposed to be doing this? How?

A new book from bestselling author Brad Francis seeks to answer those questions. Go Make Disciples: How Jesus Did It, How We Can Do It examines the life and ministry of Jesus to discover how Jesus turned His inner circle from followers into disciple makers who “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6). Brad searched the Gospels and identifies five different ways that Jesus made disciples—Example, Evaluation, Education, Equipping, and Experience—and suggests how we can adapt those same methods to modern life.

The book currently averages 4.8 stars on Amazon. One reviewer said, “If you learn best in a conversational style, talking one-on-one with a relatable mentor, then this book is a must-read for every believer.” Another went out of their way to praise the writing: “This book is clear, understandable, and very easy to read, not at all a chore to plow through like some theology books. Francis has a humorous, down-to-earth, conversational writing style, and you will feel as though you are sitting right there with him as you read. I don’t know when the last time was that I read a book this theologically sound, about this critical a spiritual issue, that was so interesting and entertaining that it just kept me turning pages.”

You can find Go Make Disciples for most ebooks (including Kindle, Nook, and iBooks) and in paperback.
Plus! To celebrate the wide release, we’re giving away two collections of Brad Francis’ other books, which have all enjoyed time on Amazon bestseller lists: The Book of the Harvest, an inspiring short story about a man in heaven who discovers a special book that makes him reevaluate how he lived his earthly life; Emaline’s Gift, book one in The Magi Chronicles, a YA fantasy in which 13-year-old Emaline gets caught up in an ancient, magical war between the Christ following magi and the evil obeah; and The Savvy Demon’s Guide to Godly Living, a satirical novel for mature audiences about a drunk demon who inadvertently sparks a worldwide revival by telling a pastor precisely what his church is doing wrong. One collection consists of all three ebooks; for the other, the winner gets to choose between ebooks and paperbacks. But you can only win if you enter!

PEN AND PAPER: AN INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR PARKER J. COLE

Check out my interview below with Urban Image Magazine as I talk about writing, dogs, and publishing.

logoforreal

Award winning author Parker J. Cole not only enjoys fascinating her readers with amazingly interesting stories, she also loves hosting her own radio show. The wife and mother of her dog, Sarah, reside in Michigan.  There she knits, cooks, writes and reads other captivating novels.

Jamantha Williams Watson: Welcome Parker. It is a pleasure to have you today as our guest.   As a radio host, entrepreneur and author, you have achieved quite a bit in your career. Please tell us more about yourself.

Parker J. Cole: Thanks first and foremost for allowing me to interview with you today. Officially, I’m the author of the edgy Christian romance Sins of the Flesh series as well as the executive of the new PJC Media Network. I’ve been a host of a couple of years but now I have created my own online broadcasting network which I’m really excited about. As an author, I’m working to produce more books and am branching off into one of my first loves of writing, speculative fiction. I’m doing that as an honor to my grandmother who was the original geek in the family long before anyone else. I can’t tell you how many old sci-fi movies we watched in her room on the weekends. She taught me how to read and write and cultivated a love for reading. That’s the official answer for who I am. Unofficially, as I like to say, I’m a diehard Trekkie (TOS), sci-fi lover, fantasy dweller, romance junkie, anime freak, old movie buff, church-goer, off and on Mountain Dew and marshmallow recovering addict who writes to fill the void the sugar left behind.

Jamantha Williams Watson: Haaaa, and you’re quite a lively personality, I might add. Please tell us, what was the defining moment that catapulted your writing career?

Parker J. Cole: The defining moment was when I lost my job back in 2010. I worked in a high pressure environment for three years. By the time I lost my job, my left eye had started to twitch every day. When I was let go, that very day until now, my left eye hasn’t twitched. Now that I had time at home, I realized that I had my first book still on my computer. I’d spent ten years writing and rewriting this book and it had never seen the light of day. I remember being in my apartment and staring at the screen saying, “No more waiting. This will get published.” I utilized the services of a vanity press (which I would not recommend by the way, looking back) and when my book, “Dark Cherub” was published, I bawled like a baby. No longer was it a dream, this was reality.

Tonight on the Write Stuff – How to Unveil the Author Inside of You with Lorna Faith

Write StuffOftentimes when I talk to people, I hear a lot of folks say, “I want to write a book. I just don’t know where to start.” Or, I may hear, “How doe you even begin to write a book? I’ve tried over and over again and I can’t get anything down.”

For some writers out there, being a writer was a given. They knew what they wanted to be and stuck to it. For some of us, being writer is a dream but we just don’t know how to get there. We recognize we do have ink in our blood but how do we tap into that gift? How do we get past our insecurities, faults, and writer’s block to unveil the author inside?

Join me for this discussion with writer, blogger, and podcaster Lorna Faith as we chat about this. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the Stitcher app on your mobile device. Or, you can click on the link: http://tobtr.com/8347377

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

LornaFaithI’m a writer of fiction and non-fiction and I love listening to people’s stories – both real and imagined – so that’s why I started this blog and the Podcast Create A Story You Love.

I guess you could say I’m a Storyteller at heart. It took me a long time before I could say those words out loud. I was intimidated and scared to share my authentic voice with the world.

I wrote about that journey in The Storyteller’s Manifesto which is coming soon!

My goal here is to encourage and inspire you to write amazing stories, to bravely publish your books… and to share your voice and your stories with the world!

I live in make-believe worlds and talk to imaginary friends when I’m working on my next fiction book. However, my love for storytelling moves beyond fiction… to helping others in areas of character growth, overcoming resistance and understanding their calling so they can create a story they love in their own lives
