Beatrice Hart loves her life as a teacher in Missouri. When her parents tell her they’re moving to Creede, Colorado, she goes with them, having nothing else to do. Just before they reach town, her parents plummet to their deaths, leaving her alone to face the world and an entire town of men.
When telegraph operator Arthur Jameson sees a young lady crying on a bench in town, he immediately goes to her to try to make things better. An hour later he finds himself married to her, wondering what had gotten into him. Together, two strangers try to navigate their way through marriage and life. Beatrice hates that she’s not allowed to go out because of the dangers presented by the town of Creede. Will the two of them learn to compromise? Or will they spend their lives in a loveless marriage?

Julianne Parker is twenty-four and ready to take her future into her own hands. Determined to succeed and escape an arranged marriage her parents are thrusting on her, she emigrates from Chicago to the new state of Colorado to establish a school in a mining boomtown. Upon arriving, she finds that her adopted hometown is not what she expected, nor is she safe.

Hugh Fontaine is poised on the cusp of achieving his every dream, provided he can win the massive fortune on the table of a poker game in Creede, Colorado. Until, through divine intervention, he’s set on a path that makes him question who he is and what he really wants. He knows for sure that he wants Julianne Parker in his life, but he’s the last thing in the world she needs.
But—what would he give to be wrong?

Marta Campbell has always been the girl no one wanted. Left on the steps of an orphanage at birth. Never adopted. Never chosen by a beau. Never asked to marry. She’d resigned herself to the life of a nanny for other people. Never wanted, never loved, only occasionally needed. Then on the way to San Francisco to take a new nanny position, she is kidnapped. Now freed, she isn’t even wanted as the nanny. So when an angel tells her to go to the mercantile in Creede and accept the first proposal she receives, she has nothing to lose.

Royce Clark is still mourning the loss of his wife after two months. He has a ranch to run and five small children to care for. He knows he’s quickly losing complete control. In a moment of anger, he challenges Marta to marry him and do better caring for his children. Imagine his surprise when she accepts his proposal and insists they marry that very day.

Can this couple find love amid a marriage entered into for the sake of five small children? Will Royce’s love for his deceased wife keep them apart for a lifetime? Will Marta live the rest of her life unloved and only wanted for her childcare and housekeeping skills. Will a threat against the ranch end in the death of yet another Clark?

Sophia Perkins arrived in Creede, Colorado with little hope and even less of a future. When a fire that should have claimed her life ends up giving her a second chance, she embraces it. Sophia finds that the town she’s come to call home has more to offer than she’d first thought, especially when she meets the handsome Trainer.

Otto Clay is a born nomad that has been able to calm the most skittish of horses for as long as he can remember. Tired of searching for something he’s never been able to define he settles in the small town of Creede, Colorado for some stability. But all his peace is turned upside down when the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen walks into his livery.

They’ve both found what they’ve been looking for, all they have to do is stop letting their pasts define them

When Toria Miller realized her only option to get away from her over-amorous employer was to escape from Beckham, Massachusetts, her first thought was to become a mail order bride. After talking to her niece, the matchmaker for the only agency in town, she chose a letter and embarked on a journey that would take her all the way to Creede, Colorado. When Toria arrived, she was excited to start her new life with her husband, the owner of the mercantile.
Mortimer Jackson was blessed with the perfect wife. Now that he’s a widower, he’s convinced he needs someone just like his first wife. He runs a mercantile in Creede, Colorado, and though his new bride doesn’t look like he expected, he hopes she’ll be just like his Grace. It doesn’t take him long to realize his new bride is nothing like the first. How will he be able to accept anything less than the perfection he had the first time? Is their marriage doomed from the very beginning?

December 1891
New York City
After rejecting the unwanted advances of her boss, Vivian Leete loses her job as a seamstress and is kicked out of the boardinghouse above the shop during a snowstorm. With no family or friends to turn to, she takes the only chance she sees to survive and heads west to Colorado as a mail-order bride. When her prospective husband doesn’t show up to get her, she goes home with Seffi Morgan, the matriarch of a prosperous cattle ranch.

Topaz, Colorado
Waylon Morgan vows never to saddle a wife with his private disgrace, but to stop his mother’s matchmaking, he tells her he’s ordering a bride. After a week of driving cattle, he returns home to find that his mother has hired Miss Leete to help her care for the ranch house. Miss Leete is just the kind of beautiful he desires, and he fights the attraction growing between them though she seems willing to give him her heart.

Hannah Coppersmith came to Creede in answer to an ad as a nurse to the local doctor only to find there was no doctor. She’d been tricked and locked up by a man who was taking women to work as calico queens at a saloon. Now freed, she helps as she can those hurt or sick in Creede and the surrounding areas as well as delivering babes as a midwife. Until an angel sends her to a dying Marshal Wheeler, the man she secretly has loved forever.
Marshal Wheeler left New York to escape the loss of his one true love to another man. After working with the famous Marshal Nathan Ryder for several years, he’s taken a post in Topaz Colorado with the sole mission of finding out the truth about corrupt sheriff Ketchem and Archie Grady’s illegal activities. Shot in the back and left for dead, he’s found by Hannah Coppersmith who nurses him back to health. Leading to a must marry situation.
When a new threat from their past could lead to her death, Henry has to decide if he wants this marriage to be real or if catching a killer is more important than Hannah’s life. Will Hannah’s cantankerous rooster, Bob, allow Henry close enough to prove his love? She’s healed his body, could she be key to healing his heart and soul too?

Why Stay A Christian When God Lets You Down? — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole Banner

**REBROADCAST**

War. Disease. Social unrest. It’s around us every day. Trial and struggle.

From global financial crisis to terrorist acts to disease and natural disasters, we are impacted by trials every day. Some of us, in fact, MOST of us, would say life is hard. Yet, maybe it’s not the major events of the world that affect us but the things in our personal lives which turn our spheres of life upside. Perhaps sickness has struck you or your loved ones. Maybe the company you worked for went under. You’ve lost precious ones in your life. Or, you’re wondering why can’t you get it together and be married and have some form of happily ever after.

Perhaps your struggle goes even deeper. Why did you have to be the one hurt and abused by those you trusted the most? Why can’t you have a child while others do? Why did the thief come and take your personal belongings? Why doesn’t seem as if nothing can go right? Why can’t you find purpose? Why can’t you be mentally balanced like ‘everyone else’?

Shouldn’t God be bigger than this? If God is so powerful, why is this so difficult. Why hold onto the faith when it seems the omnipotent Lord doesn’t do anything to help. Why stay a Christian when God lets you down?

Join me as we delve into a thought, a question, or an argument I’m sure we’ve all had with my guest co-host, Trevor Slone. Perhaps we can help. Listen in at 646-668-8485. Or download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link here.

About The Book

Have you ever wondered why after watching a movie you are left with a residue of emotions? Perhaps after the credits have rolled off of your screen, you’ve experienced a sense of peace, empowerment, exhilaration, fear or maybe a better understanding of how to deal with a personal issue you’ve struggled with.

Whether we are a believer in God or not, everyone will come to a place where the choices they’ve made will lead them to asking themselves, “How did I get here?” And as we run from co-workers and then to friends and family pleading for an answer as to how it all went so wrong, we will still have to choose, in the end, which path we’ll take. Don’t be fooled, because once you decide it is you and only you who will ultimately have to live those choices out.

Beyond the Face of the Movies will show you at heart just how similar we all are and whether you see your life resembling a Hollywood movie or a real life biblical character you will discover, underneath all the glitz and the glam, that people are still the same when it comes to making mistakes.

Many times God challenges us to go deeper than the surface of the movie, in hope that we will discover principles that can be gleaned from beneath the excitement and buzz of the film.

By juxtaposing Hollywood movies and biblical characters, the author connects the dots for the reader so that they are guided through fundamental biblical truths in order to better understand and navigate through their own life challenges on a daily basis.

What does Bruce Almighty have in common with the biblical Samson? What is Prophet Jonah doing in the Wizard of Oz instead of going down to Nineveh? Find out in this fun and feisty easy-to-read book, and while you are at it – take the time to look beyond the surface of the movie and you will sense God speaking to you in encouraging, practical and at times convicting ways.

About The Book

onesundayatatimefront

What does crazy look like? Let Deborah tell it, it’s the reflection that looks back at her in the mirror. She has a career she loves, two beautiful children and a handsome and successful husband. Her life seems to be the blueprint almost every woman she knows would kill to live. But working full-time, being a full-time mother, full-time wife and a full-time Sunday only Christian seems to be taking its toll on her. With all the scheming and shenanigans Deborah orchestrated to get this lifestyle, she might have to come up with a whole set of new ones to maintain it.

Lynox is Deborah’s husband who she thanks God for putting back into her life after a game of cat and mouse that defies the laws of romance. He feels that all Deborah needs is to let her hair down, maybe make some new friends and live a little. When Deborah agrees and then suspects Lynox of having an affair with the woman that he suggested she form a friendship with, will he live to regret his own advice?

Tonight on the Write Stuff — Beyond the Face of the Movies with Deborah Lassiter

Write StuffThere’s really nothing like going to the movies and being invigorated by the plot, the characters, the action sequences, and the romance. Movies do all they can to draw us in so we can live in this make-believe world for an hour or two. Hollywood spends a lot of money on making sure the films it produces brings forward the right actors, the best director, the able producer, and so many more people that make the movie seem like the spectacular feat that it is.

Sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don’t but after the show’s done, you may find yourself still in awe, in laughter, perhaps even fear because the movie did more than just tell a story — it led us to think deeper about things life. In much the same way, but way better than a film, God wants us to see the deeper principles all around us.

Join me as I chat with WPJC host of Dovetales, Deborah Lassiter as we discuss her debut release  Beyond the Face of the Movies and talk about what we should see beyond the buzz and excitement of a film as she takes biblical characters and Hollywood movies for a fun spin with a deeper tale. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download stitcher on your mobile device, Or click on the link here:   Tune in!
