Tonight on the Write Stuff — Candid Conversations with Heather Hart

candidLife isn’t always sunshine and chocolate.

It’s hard.

Being a Christian doesn’t change that.

In Candid Conversations you’ll read real life stories from real Christian women, and how God has used their struggles to either refine their faith or used their faith to help them weather the storm. From struggling with doubts to dealing with the loss of a loved one, these women lay it all out. They aren’t afraid to get real, because they know God can use their struggles to inspire, encourage, and reach others all for His glory.

Heather Hart, founder of the #CandidlyChristian movement, encourages readers to be honest and look for ways they can relate to each story. Then take that mentality into their everyday lives and start having candid conversations with those around them. Because when we share our struggles, when we are real, that’s when we truly point others to Jesus.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to get Candid.

Join in the discussion as I chat with author Heather Hart and her newest release at 7 pm Eastern.  You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Download Stitcher on your mobile device. Follow us on iTunes. Or, click on the link here: http://tobtr.com/10912425.

heatherHey there! My name is Heather Hart, and I am about to get candid.

The first thing you need to know about me is that I don’t have it all together… and I’m okay with that. While I am constantly striving to be more like Christ, I know that He has me covered when I fail. That’s the gospel (and I LOVE it!!)

I’m an imperfect mom, but I love my kids like crazy. They might not always have clean faces and manicured nails, but they are mine and I love all four of them.

I’m an epic failure as a wife. I’m constantly putting myself first instead of being the helpmeet my husband needs, but for some reason he loves me anyway (and of course the feeling is mutual).

Other than being a sinner saved by grace, here are a few other fun facts about me:

I love high-heeled boots and flip-flops (no matter what season it is).

If it is under 90 degrees, there is a good possibility that I’m cold. I think I get it from my mama, but either way it makes sunshine and sweaters two of my best buddies.

I am not a morning person, I don’t like vegetables, and unfiltered water makes me sick (literally, we think it’s the chlorine). But, I love Jesus. He can make any day better.

I’m an introvert, but I love others deeply. In other words: It doesn’t matter if we’ve met before, I love you and care about you instantaneously… but I probably don’t show it (unless you count my overabundance of tears… If you are sad or hurting, I’m probably going to cry about it). It also means that I’m crazy quiet and might not talk to you if we ever meet face to face (I’m working on it).

Oh and I love to write! Besides blogging, I also write Bible studies, devotions, and other nonfiction books.

So in a nut shell, I am first and foremost a servant of Christ who is happily married to the man of my dreams – but I am also the mother of four, an internationally best-selling and award-winning author, owner of BooksFaithandCoffee.com, founder of CandidlyChristian.com, and the director of FindYourTrueBeauty.com. I enjoy working from home where I spend my days studying God’s Word, typing on the computer, and encouraging those around me. And, of course, if I am not writing or absorbed in my four kids, I can usually be found with my nose in a book.

About The Book

Have you ever wondered why after watching a movie you are left with a residue of emotions? Perhaps after the credits have rolled off of your screen, you’ve experienced a sense of peace, empowerment, exhilaration, fear or maybe a better understanding of how to deal with a personal issue you’ve struggled with.

Whether we are a believer in God or not, everyone will come to a place where the choices they’ve made will lead them to asking themselves, “How did I get here?” And as we run from co-workers and then to friends and family pleading for an answer as to how it all went so wrong, we will still have to choose, in the end, which path we’ll take. Don’t be fooled, because once you decide it is you and only you who will ultimately have to live those choices out.

Beyond the Face of the Movies will show you at heart just how similar we all are and whether you see your life resembling a Hollywood movie or a real life biblical character you will discover, underneath all the glitz and the glam, that people are still the same when it comes to making mistakes.

Many times God challenges us to go deeper than the surface of the movie, in hope that we will discover principles that can be gleaned from beneath the excitement and buzz of the film.

By juxtaposing Hollywood movies and biblical characters, the author connects the dots for the reader so that they are guided through fundamental biblical truths in order to better understand and navigate through their own life challenges on a daily basis.

What does Bruce Almighty have in common with the biblical Samson? What is Prophet Jonah doing in the Wizard of Oz instead of going down to Nineveh? Find out in this fun and feisty easy-to-read book, and while you are at it – take the time to look beyond the surface of the movie and you will sense God speaking to you in encouraging, practical and at times convicting ways.

About The Book

onesundayatatimefront

What does crazy look like? Let Deborah tell it, it’s the reflection that looks back at her in the mirror. She has a career she loves, two beautiful children and a handsome and successful husband. Her life seems to be the blueprint almost every woman she knows would kill to live. But working full-time, being a full-time mother, full-time wife and a full-time Sunday only Christian seems to be taking its toll on her. With all the scheming and shenanigans Deborah orchestrated to get this lifestyle, she might have to come up with a whole set of new ones to maintain it.

Lynox is Deborah’s husband who she thanks God for putting back into her life after a game of cat and mouse that defies the laws of romance. He feels that all Deborah needs is to let her hair down, maybe make some new friends and live a little. When Deborah agrees and then suspects Lynox of having an affair with the woman that he suggested she form a friendship with, will he live to regret his own advice?

20160429_110247

It’s really a shock to me that I would write Christian fiction. Really it is.  I didn’t know Christian fiction existed until about 2000 or so when I happened across a store called Family Christian Stores. I went in there and saw all of these lovely books and was hooked.

My earliest memories are of books and writing. I always knew this is what I would do. I just never thought I’d be a Christian writer or a writer who is Christian.  I grew up reading Stephen King and then when I was fourteen, I discovered my first Harlequin book under my cousin’s bed that summer and got hooked onto romance. So my first loves are horror and romance. Go figure.

When I began to take my writing seriously, I had been let go at my job back in 2010.  Now I had time on my hands. I saw the computer with my manuscript I’d let linger for ten years from the time I was 18 years old and I decided to get in published no matter what. My first book, Dark Cherub, can be classified as Christian horror. (Thanks Stevie!)  It changed everything for me. I mean, everything. I worked on my first romance series, called Sins of the Flesh and that also changed things for me. I started to do podcasting, and now I am the owner of the new PJC Media, an online broadcasting company.  Yet the love of the written word is still in my veins.

I host Christian authors worldwide on my shows.  Been doing it for three years. Over the years, I’ve become something of  diplomat. The body of Christ is already so divided by denominations and the like. I don’t want to add to that unnecessarily. I don’t mind standing up for core biblical truths but when it comes to secondary, non-essentials, I don’t get too worked up over it.

I love helping Christian authors get the word out about their works. If you want to be showcased on my show, simply email me at writestuffradio at gmail dot com. I’d be glad to have you.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — The Right Angle by Sherry Chamberlee

Write StuffWe’ve all heard the expression, “If you look at it from the right angle…” Usually, it depends on the situation that we’re in. If you look at it this way, it’s not so bad. Or, if you look at it from this angle, it’s worst than what we thought.

What if everything we go through we’ve been viewing through the wrong angle? The angle of human understanding and finite wisdom. So when the situation gets bad, we say, “See, if it wasn’t for that, this wouldn’t have happened.” Lets take a step back and wonder, “Am I viewing this event the right way?”
The perspective of our lives should be from God’s perspective, not ours. Yet, oftentimes, when various things happens, we tend to view it from the wrong angle.

On this episode of the Write Stuff, we’ll be chatting with author Sherry Chamberlee, author of the 4 week women’s devotional “Right Angles” as we discuss this topic about perspective. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, you can click on the link here. http://tobtr.com/8545131. Tune in!

Right angles cover

ABOUT THE BOOK

This 4-week devotional for women offers a Bible study on maintaining those proper perspectives that line up with God’s Word.

Oftentimes in life, our biggest problem comes from the angle we’re looking at things. When we straighten out the perspectives, in our own minds, we might just see the solution readily available. That’s why our perspective should always be guided by the Bible. God’s Holy Word is the only straight angle that will keep us in the proper perspective.

We all need to periodically check ourselves to see if we’re still on that right perspective.
That’s what this book is about – a check on the angle.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sherry grew up in various cities around northern and central California. This gave her all sorts of stories that sat and festered in her brain, waiting to be let loose. She eventually went to college in Wisconsin, where she met her equally frenetic husband, Rich. They have six (yes, count them) children, two dogs and a cat, and currently reside in a madhouse in the southern California area. As a family, they enjoy being active in their local church. Sherry spends her time writing when not caring for Granny, the kids, the dogs, the cat and any number of strays in the neighborhood.
