God’s Sense of Humor — The Parker J Cole Show

Everyone on the planet has something to say about God. His love, foremost. His power, glory, honor, justice, holiness, and many, many, many more things. He is our Creator, our Redeemer. The Giver of Life and the great Judge.

But how often do we talk about God’s sense of humor? How, despite our mix-ups, He gives us a second chance. The biblical people in the Bible that we tend to the deify aren’t really all that different from us. How He takes a situation, flips it, and has us shaking our head.

Got Karma?–The Parker J Cole Show

“Karma’s gonna get you!” “Karma’s a —–!” “That’s bad karma!” “Put good karma into the universe.” “I believe in karma.”

Growing up, I often heard phrases and terms such as, “God don’t like ugly!” “God’s gonna get you!” The focus on who would utlimately decide one’s punishment in life rested on God. Nowadays, believers and non-believers alike, add ‘karma’ to the equation of justice and remembrance.

But what exactly is karma? If we control our karma, does that control our actions in the present and the future? Is karma good? Is it bad? Do you need it? Can Christians sychronize the Eastern philosophical concept of karma with the righteous judgement of God? Does it really matter?

Marcia Montenegro from Christian Answers for the New Age returns as we talk about the concept of karma. Ultimately the question, got karma? And if you do, do you really want it? You can call in at 646-668-8485 and press 1 to be live on air. Download Stitcher on your mobile device. Follow us on iTunes and iHeartreadio. Tonight on the Write Stuff — Scriptures for Writers with Shoshanna Gabriel **REBROADCAST**

SHOSHANNAImage result for bible stock images

A number of my author friends, and yours truly included, are having a particularly difficult time right now. We who know each other have cried and prayed together.

I’m so glad to rebroadcast this show from two years ago. My guest is Shoshanna Gabriel. When this show first aired, she had recently given up her lucrative career as an erotica author to write Christian inspirational romances. Her story and the encouragment within this broadcast I think are timeless. I hope you’re blessed by them too!

**REBROADCAST**

I remember a scene from the movie, A Beautiful Mind, when Jennifer Connelly studies a painting and she makes the comment, “God must be a painter.” I thought about this as I write the show description for this episode of the Write Stuff. Within the vastness of everything that the Lord is, He is an artist. A painter, a writer, a musician, a poet, whatever art form there can possibly be, He is all of those things.

Writers, in my opinion, are blessed to be given this talent. Just like every artist is blessed with their God-given ability. However, though we use words to express ourselves, we should also be reminded we need God’s words inside of us that will help us along the way.

Join me as I talk with Shoshanna Gabriel as we discuss scriptures for writers. Call in at 646-668-8485, to listen in. Or, download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link http://tobtr.com/s/11519455.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — The Sheila Anthony Shaw Story

shaw

More than fifty-five doctors and specialists either misdiagnosed her, or didn’t know how to help her. You’ll want to hang on when you read this one.

Sheila Anthony-Shaw experiences: an unceremonious year as a California beauty queen; being slighted by the love of her life days after losing their unborn child; a heartless doctor who rather remove her reproduction organs than address her ruptured appendix, and driving alone across the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge without being able to use the gas, or brake pedals in her car.

How she overcame these events—and others—will echo down through the ages.

Through her high points and low points, at no point was God not there. You’ll laugh, cry, and gasp. But you’ll also be inspired beyond measure.

Join me as I talk about overcoming life adversities and difficulties with a woman who has experienced them first hand, Sheila Anthony Shaw. This memoir tells the story of the author — a woman who went from depression, to having a child out of wedlock and even becoming a prostitute.

It is a tale of spiraling down into the depths of despair to ultimately finding how GOD WILL and CAN GIVE YOU THE STRENGTH TO CONQUER!

Tonight on the Write Stuff — What Aliens Teach Us About God with Travis Perry **REBROADCAST**

unknownbiologicScience fiction often shows aliens as an exaggerated form of human being, which can actually help us understand God.

Tonight’s show is derived from a series of blog posts by a very good friend of mine, Travis Perry. I’m a huge fan of his insight into a variety of things. In particular, this series combined by love of sci-fi aliens with my love for Christ. You may ask, ‘How in the world do aliens, you know, the creatures with the four toes, the one eye, the tentacles, the magical powers, and the spaceships, teach us about God?”

In what I think is simply brilliance, Travis takes the ATTRIBUTES of what we consider ALIEN and shows us how they’re not so ALIEN after all. In fact, the one Being who is truly ALIEN to us is the one who loves us the most, the God of the Bible.

Think we’re drinking the Kool-Aid? Well, join me and listen to this insightful show with Travis and myself. You can call in at 646-668-8485 and press 1 to be live on air. Or, download Stitcher on your mobile device. Follow us on iTunes. Or, click on the link here: http://tobtr.com/s/11284277.

travisTravis Perry was born in Montana and raised in that state. The Crystal Portal, published in 2011, was his first novel. He also contributed to the short story collections Stories From a Soldiers Heart, Aquasynthesis, Aquasynthesis Again, Avenir Eclectia Volume 1, Colony Zero, No Revolution Too Big, Medieval Mars, and Avatars of Web Surfer. As a publisher and owner of Bear Publications he has produced a number of short story collections, including most recently Mythic Orbits 2016. An Army Reserve officer who deployed for the Gulf War and later to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa, his writing reflects his lifelong interest in science fiction and fantasy, his strong Christian beliefs, and his knowledge of modern warfare.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — Stolen Jesus with Jami Amerine

Jami Stole Jesus
And Jesus Stole Jami

stolenjesusLet’s be honest. The journey to discovering Jesus—Real Jesus—can be complicated, messy, and a little crazy. Just ask Jami Amerine. Banned from the Mormon church as a child, she’s spent the rest of her life trying to reconcile Fifth-Grade Jesus, Catholic Jesus, and Americanized Jesus (just to name a few).

But when she met Real Jesus, everything changed.

You can meet Him too—right here, just as you are. With designer coffee in hand or your jar of pickles for lunch. (Jami will tell you that story in chapter 1.)

If you’ve ever felt confused by the conflicting representations of Jesus you’ve encountered in the world, you’re invited to join Jami’s quest to release all the wrong ideas and get to know Jesus as He really is—bewildering grace and all.

(Oh, and Stolen Jesus? He sits on Jami’s mantel. You’ll get to meet Him too!)

Join Jami Amerine and I for an insightful conversation. You can listen in at 646-668-8485. Follow us on iTunes. Download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link here: http://tobtr.com/10912417.

jamieHello! My name is Jami Amerine. I am wife of Justin, mom to Maggie, John (Marine-baby), Luke, Sophie, Sam & Charlie (the vandals.) I love words, chocolate, coffee, painting and Real Jesus. Justin and I have been married for 25 years… the original 4 babies are our biological children and then we started all over with foster care and adoption adding the new batch. We recently moved from our ranch in West Texas to the Houston area just in time for the launch of my first book with Harvest House, Stolen Jesus: An Unconventional Search for the Real Savior.

Other than that! Life is all, bills, babies, casseroles, cardio, a little yoga, blog posts, laundry, take out Chinese, Beastie Boys, homework, Seinfeld, laughter, tears, spilled milk, cheezits, Jesus, a walk around the block and another trip to Walmart. I love connecting with my readers and hearing all the ways our lives are similar… and completely different.

I actually wasn’t a writer so I come from a place of wonder as I navigate all this insanity. In August of 2015, I had an unknown little mommy blog, I averaged about 69 views a month. In September of 2015 I put up a blog post, from my phone called An Open Letter to My Children You’re Not That Great…. and that month I had 690,000 views, the next month I had a million, an agent, and a couple months later I had a two-book deal with Harvest House, so you just never know! But it has been such a fun ride. I have never had as much fun as getting to know the people that frequent my blog and social media sites.

I look forward to connecting with you too! Grace, love, and Real Jesus, Jami Amerine

Beauty for Ashes — The Parker J Cole Show

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Perhaps these are verses that are familiar to us. Or, maybe they aren’t. When we are surrounded by pain of all kinds, how can we look upon the situation and see anything else but bad?

“Beauty for Ashes” is the inaugural book in The Father’s Daughters Anthology Series. Eight women gather together to show how God transforms wounds for worship, pain for praise, and tragedy for triumph. These real-life experiences show sour lemons turning into sweet delights. It is a testament to how life changes for the better when faith allows God to comfort, heal, and love His daughters. Join me as I talk with the creator of of this anthology as she shares with us the stories of eight women who have joined together to show that, yes indeed, we can obtain beauty from ashes.

Why Stay A Christian When God Lets You Down? — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole Banner

**REBROADCAST**

War. Disease. Social unrest. It’s around us every day. Trial and struggle.

From global financial crisis to terrorist acts to disease and natural disasters, we are impacted by trials every day. Some of us, in fact, MOST of us, would say life is hard. Yet, maybe it’s not the major events of the world that affect us but the things in our personal lives which turn our spheres of life upside. Perhaps sickness has struck you or your loved ones. Maybe the company you worked for went under. You’ve lost precious ones in your life. Or, you’re wondering why can’t you get it together and be married and have some form of happily ever after.

Perhaps your struggle goes even deeper. Why did you have to be the one hurt and abused by those you trusted the most? Why can’t you have a child while others do? Why did the thief come and take your personal belongings? Why doesn’t seem as if nothing can go right? Why can’t you find purpose? Why can’t you be mentally balanced like ‘everyone else’?

Shouldn’t God be bigger than this? If God is so powerful, why is this so difficult. Why hold onto the faith when it seems the omnipotent Lord doesn’t do anything to help. Why stay a Christian when God lets you down?

Join me as we delve into a thought, a question, or an argument I’m sure we’ve all had with my guest co-host, Trevor Slone. Perhaps we can help. Listen in at 646-668-8485. Or download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link here.

Is God Beyond Logic? — The Parker J Cole Show

Isaiah 55: 8-9 “ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

When I read verse like that, I am overwhelmed by the majesty of our Lord. His thoughts are so much more than our own. We see things from a limited point of view while He sees the big picture. We see it from our flawed existence while He sees it from his perfect and infinite wisdom. Yet, does that mean flawed creatures such as ourselves cannot begin to comprehend God?

Some people would suggest that God is beyond logic because of His very nature? Is He? Let’s talk about it with my returning guest, apologist and author Evan Minton. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press one to be live on air. Or, you can download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link here.
