Tonight on the Write Stuff — Everyone Was Left Behind

In the midnight hours of April 24th, a prophecy fails and its prophet falls.

Pastor Graham Wilcox boldly predicted Jesus would return to earth on April 24th to rapture His faithful. But, when April 25th arrives, the world is the same, except for Wilcox, who is found dead. His gruesome murder rocks the community where Wilcox lived and the families who frequented the small church that he pastored.

To uncover the truth behind the murder, the skeptical Detective Daniel Seitzer must go to the place he dreads most: church. Along with his new, religious partner, Seitzer wades through a myriad of rumors, secrets, and strange connections as well as an astonishing number of people who had motive to kill Wilcox. Is the killer one of the pastor’s own congregants, or a shadowy figure on the periphery of the church connected with a powerful pharmaceutical company?

For Seitzer, a grieving widow, a multi-million-dollar company, and a faithful but broken family, the truth behind the events of April 24th will either set them free or bury those who have been left behind.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — Apocalypse TV with Thomas Allbaugh

Thomas AlbaughQUESTION REALITY

When a reality TV scout “discovers” Walter in a diner near the hospice where his father has been placed, his life has reached a low point. His father is dying, his college teaching career is under threat, and his life is adrift. The scout wants him for a reality show about religion. In a more self-assured period of his life, Walter would have rejected her questionable offer outright, but now he wavers and allows himself to be drawn in. Maybe this is the jolt of energy his life needs. Maybe, if the show succeeds, his university will be so impressed that they’ll finally treat him with respect. Maybe the show will even be what the producers promise it will be, a serious inquiry into faith. Maybe he’ll become famous.

The show brings Walter attention, but for all the wrong reasons. He is misquoted, misinterpreted, misunderstood, and then shot after he has been dragged across the country in an increasingly frustrating and absurd series of challenges. Will his career and reputation survive the public protests? Will his marriage survive the hints of affairs on the road? Will any kind of “reality” emerge to restore his self-respect?

Author picThomas Allbaugh is an associate professor of English at Azusa Pacific University. He has been writing since the fourth grade, when his teacher allowed satire in their “What I Want for Christmas” stories. Later, after winning a short story contest in the eighth grade, and being accused of plagiarism in the ninth grade, because, his teacher said, “You can’t write that well,” he began to read seriously every afternoon in the library during study hall and found he enjoyed everything from science fiction to realistic fiction. Convinced now that writing is not just creating products, but more importantly an active way to reflect, discover new ideas, and process the world, he has managed to publish short fiction, essays, and poetry in a number of small journals. APOCALYPSE TV is his first novel, though he has also published a textbook for first-year writing, called PRETEXTS FOR WRITING.

Tonight on the Write Stuff — The Story of With with Allen Arnold

I met Allen Arnold for the first time at the Southern California Christian Writer’s Conference. He’s a tall man with an air of contentment and peace about him that is tangible to anyone who is perceptive of it. I had the honor of sitting in his workshop. In the short time I was there, he blew me away with his insight into the gift that God gave me. The writing ability I’ve been blessed with. Yet, he drew me into a deeper appreciation for what the Lord has done.

When I got back from the conference, I immediately wracked the Net and my contacts via the conference committee and told them I was looking for Allen. He graciously granted my request to be on this show.

His words I haven’t forgotten. Mind you, it’s been a few months since the conference. Of particular thought was his word, “We’re so concerned or honed in on doing things for God that we don’t think about doing things with God.” And let me tell you, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Do you want an intimate, deeper relationship with God through the gift of writing (or whatever it is) that God has granted you? I invite you to join Allen and I for this show. Pamela Poole is an artist and author currently living in Raleigh, NC with her husband Mark. Her novels in the Painter Place Saga take place on a fictional island along the coastline of South Carolina, between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Her short stories “King’s Ransom” and “Windsong of the Marsh” are two of the popular legends surrounding Painter Place and are included in the story series.

As an artist, Pamela creates the paintings for her book cover designs. She was inspired to write Painter Place when her son encouraged her to write the kind of book she wanted to read but couldn’t find. Book 2 in the saga, Hugo, follows the characters at Painter Place almost five years later as they endure the historic monster hurricane of that name in 1989. Jaguar, Book 3, will be released in early March 2017 with Southern Sky Publishing. She is currently writing Landmark, Book 4.

Her love of living in the South is lavished into her subject matter, inspiring her to categorize her work as “Southern Ambiance.” She’s a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and ACFW-NC. Tonight on the Write Stuff — Shredded with Kimberly Rae

shreddednewset-195x300A New Pastor, A Dying Church, and a Fifteen-Year-Old Secret

Jean has been called Blue Jean since childhood, but not because of her clothing. She wears nondescript colors and avoids people when she can. Her world is unhappy but predictable, until the new pastor and his handsome brother move into town. A chance encounter brings the town prostitute to church that Sunday, starting a chain reaction that will shake the church to its core.
Will Jean embrace the truth that will set her free, or will fear keep her captive forever?

If you loved Francine River’s Redeeming Love, Shredded is for you!

Shredded was inspired by the Biblical story of the scandalous woman wiping Jesus’ feet with her hair. If that story happened in a modern context on a larger scale, who would respond like the judgmental religious leader, who would respond like Jesus, and what would happen to the woman who’d been forgiven much?

Join me as I chat with Kimberly Rae, author and abolitionist, as we discuss her books and her ministry. Call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, download Stitcher on your mobile device. Or, click on the link here.
