Parker’s Comparables

Parker’s Comparables is a new videocast I am hosting where brothers and sisters in Christ discuss two view of secondary, non-essential issues of the faith. They are hosted on YouTube.

Episode 1: The Preterist View vs. The Futuristic View of Biblical End-times

The Left Behind series is a fictional series which gives a futuristic view of the biblical end times. This view is very popular among the Church and in various circles.

The Last Disciple series is a fictional series which gives a historical view of the biblical end times with an emphasis that the persecution of the Church is for the Christians of the first century. These two series represent two different views of the book of Revelation: the futuristic view and the preterist views.

In this first ever videocast, we’ll be talking to two men who are both researchers and writers about each view, comparing and contrasting and then towards the end, providing you with resources to delve further into biblical study

Episode 2: The Preterist View vs. The Futuristic View: The Harlot of Babylon: 1st Century Israel or 21st United States

Join us for the 2nd episode of Parker’s Comparables! We’ll be chatting with our returning guests, Doug Woodward and Brian Godawa as we delve into Biblical end-times.

The Whore of Babylon:

The popular view of this figure in the book of Revelations. According to the futurist view, the Harlot of Babylon represents, in general, a future, powerful conglomerate which ties to both political, financial, and spiritual forces that will herald the reign of the Anti-Christ. Many theories abound about who or what the Harlot is.

The Preterist view holds the Whore of Babylon is a historical figure, or rather an event between Jerusalem and Rome. In rejecting Christ as King, the ceased to be the wife and became a harlot. Thus, the Harlot is representation of Israel’s rejection of the Messiah.

We’ll discuss this and other topics today, comparing and contrasting and then towards the end, providing you with resources to delve further into biblical study
