I think, therefore I am…what?
It’s a question we need to ponder as we delve into the questions of who we really are. Popular naturalistic and materialistic thinkers prefer to quantify us as material beings, possessing no transcendence other than the physical aspects of our bodies. According to them, we are a combination of organic material, neuro-chemical processes, environmental upbringing, and learned social/cultural behavior. After all, isn’t emotion just a neurons sparking off electrical impulses?
Or is there more? Are we more than the sum parts of corporeal properties? In essence, if we are more than material then we must have an non-corporeal aspect to our beings. Is that the soul? If it is, what does that mean in regards to…everything we affirm our faith on?
