Last week we began our discussion on defending the Resurrection. This week, we continue our analysis.
It is one of the most singular events in history — the Resurrection of the Lord. It would not be an exaggeration to state that EVERYTHING rests on this one thing in the Christian faith. If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, then He is not God. If He is not God then everything we believe falls like a giant house of cards. He would be no better than a wise man whose words and teachings we could take with a grain of salt.
Defending the resurrection is something every Christian should know how to do. After all, critics would say Jesus’ resurrection was either faked, his body stolen, or some other phenomenon to explain the empty tomb. Every year toward Easter, there’s always an attack stating Jesus’ did not rise from the dead. Curious theories abound as to explain away the empty tomb. Being able to refute them is essential.
With me to help us to know how to defend the resurrection is apologist Evan Minton, creator of the blog Cerebral Faith. He takes an approach that uses extra-biblical sources as well as Biblical references to defend the reliability of the Gospels record of Jesus rising from the dead. In Part Two of our discussion, we’ll be talking about more sources and proofs for the resurrection of the Lord. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air.
