The picture for this post shows an animal is a natural cliffhanger — the goat. A few weeks ago, I saw a post someone shared that showed thirteen pictures of goats in crazy, precarious, depth-defying features. You can click here to see if you’d like. They’re absolutely amazing creatures. Cliffs, for these goats, are to be scaled, not avoided.

However, as people, we do not do well as cliffhangers. Oh, I’m not referring to those daredevils God enables to seek thrills and chills and acrobatic moments of terror.  The part of my brain is neatly filed in the cabinet marked ‘Death Wishes’, encoded with neurons that need electrical stimulation from a neurotoxcin called “Out of My Mind.”

The cliffhangers I refer to are the ones where we ask God for answers to our needs…and He appears to not answers.

After all, there are many former Christians who have left because God did not answer them. Or, did He? Perhaps you’ve waited on God at a moment where you are hanging on a cliff. Below you is an abyss swirling with failure. Letting go is not an option. Yet, holding on indefinitely is impossible. You’re waiting for God to rescue you…and He doesn’t appear to grasp your precarious position. Can’t He hear your screams? Doesn’t he care one ounce that you’re alone? Where is he? You need the Savior…to save you! You can’t wait forever? How can you thrive while you’re waiting for God to answer? Is this what He has in store for you…to be a spiritual cliffhanger?

This week, we unpack this topic with Rev. Teirrah McNair, a prolific author, speaker, and minister to help us with this feeling of being a cliffhanger.
